Behavioral Science and Education for Sustainable Development: Towards Metacognitive Competency

Behavioral science is increasingly considered foundational for addressing various sustainable development challenges. change and action competence have also become important goals in Education Sustainable Development (ESD), complementing interacting with other educational such as the of sustainability-relevant knowledge, skills, values, attitudes. We argue that these interconnected learning ESD can be advanced by integrating interdisciplinary behavioral concepts, methods, insights into design curricula, environments, processes participatory whole-school approaches. Specifically, we highlight role metacognitive competency self-directed individual collective behavior present our concept teaching human an theme ESD.
